Hayman Island, Lindeman Island, Other IslandsFamilies have been holidaying on Hayman since the 1930s. Today, Hayman is listed as one of the finest in the world. It has been admitted into membership of the prestigious organisation - The Leading Hotels of the World, founded in 1928, which nominates only what it considers the world's most eminent establishments. All the islands are close to each other, but Hayman is closest to the outer reefs. Bait and Swains Reefs in particular which are major dive sites for experienced divers. On a sparkling sunny day, the clolour of the water of Hayman's Lagoon and Whitsunday Passage is simply stunning - the hues range from gold to turquoise to emerald to sapphire.

The resort on Lindeman Island is Australia's first Club Med with the emphasis on having fun in the sun. The resort takes up only a tiny part of the island which is all National Park and covers an area of about 20 square kilometres. This is a bushwalker's dream island, with 19kms of walking trails throughout untouched bushland. From the top of Mt. Oldfield, 212m above sea level, the 360 dgree view is nothing short of spectacular. On a clear day you can see Hamilton, Whitsunday and Haslewood Islands as well as many of the smaller ones. Humpback whales can often be seen from the shore, a sight not to be forgotten. Dolphins are also frequent visitors. On Lindeman, golden orchids also grow on the mangroves at the end of the beach and over 90 species of birds dart through the trees. There are a number of tiny islands dotted around Lindeman all a short dinghy ride away and perfect for a day of personal paradise. Lindeman also has its own airstrip.

Pick an uninhabited Whitsunday Island and go troppo in spectacular style. You can drop anchor in the isolated cove of a deserted island and stay there for as long as your provisions last or you can be dropped by boat on to the island of your choice.
