Daydream Island
Tiny, jewel-like Daydream is close to the mainland and one of the first to welcome guests in the 1930s.They slept in timber shacks with crushed coral floors and iron roofs. The windows were iron shutters.
Today, guests sleep in luxurious surroundings in a playground designed to give pleasure to all members of the family. Just 1km long and 1/2km wide, Daydream is always popular with day visitors as it is only a short ride from the mainland. There are separate facilites for resort guests. Of its three beaches, one is fringed by outcrops of coral and colourful fish life. The centre and highest point of te island is a small but dense jungle of tropiccal vegetation inhabited by parrots and tiny sunbirds.
