Each weekend in May and June, feature racing events offer substantial prize money and attract leading Australian and New Zealand thorughbreds to Eagle Farm and Doomben Racecources.

Sporting action abounds throughout the winter, as the football season kicks off and Ballymore comes alive with the Rugby Union Season. The Brisbane Broncos and South Queensland Crushers (Rugby League), The Brisbane Lions (Aussie Rules) and the Brisbane Strikers (Soccer) will also don their jerseys for yet another season ofexciting football action.

Brisbane really is the place to be during summer, also, or at any other time of the year for that matter. The city offers an endless array of things to do and places to see. The South Bank Parklands are a must for the visitor as well as the Conrad International Treasury Casino, parks and gardens, walks and lookouts, museums, galleries and arts centres, not to mention the restaurants and fabulous shopping. Brisbane is also an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful south-east corner of Queensland. Hire a car or take one of the many touring opitions avalable.

Internationally renowned and local artists, as well as world famous performances continue to draw crowds to the Entertainment Centre and the award winning Queensland Cultural Centre. A diverse range of music can be experienced at the annual Festival of Music at the end of May, from classical and opera to jazz, contemporary rock, gospel, world and even punk. The festival includes dance and a significant component of indigenous music.

Brisbane boasts a very pleasant sub-tropical climate of hot humid summers and mild dry winters. Broad rimmed hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended to take full advantage of our beautiful sunny climate. Lightweight clothing is suitable all year round but bring something warm to slip on as the temperature drops at night during winter.

With so many events complementing its attractions and activities and a lovely warm sunny climate, Brisbane really is the place to be at any time of the year.
